![]() My family was in the last seat, the truck went into reverse and hit the truck behind us twice. We were at the half way point in the safari where our have the option to leave and feed giraffes etc. The guide was nice and informative it is not as pretty as disney's animal kingdom and lacks the service completely, you will however see animals. We waited 60 minutes to get on the safari. They really wanted to go on the safari so we decided to spend the 250.00 for the park and safari. ![]() ![]() ![]() We just returned from a family trip to Six Flags. This particular day on Rolling Thunder with my children was just breathtaking and I remember thinking to myself, “I hope they NEVER tear this ride down!” I c I have been blessed to experience this through their eyes-sharing their anticipation as the train inches up the first hill, watching their little arms fly up in the air as we crest the top, hearing their cries of joy as we plummet down the first hill and seeing the beautiful glowing smiles on their faces after the ride. A few weeks ago I took my two boys to Great Adventure and we were lucky enough to ride Rolling Thunder 4 times in a row (and on the left side too, my favorite side!) This was the first year that my boys could ride this ride together. Our family has had season passes for years and we always look forward to our time together on our favorite ride. And now, most significantly I ride it with my husband and two oldest children who are 6 and 8 and can’t get enough of it! They even construct their own versions of Rolling Thunder with their Kinex and dream about riding it in the wintertime. And I rode it with my Dad two days before my wedding-a very special memory that I cherish. I have ridden it on the left side and “raced” friends on the right side and vice versa. I have ridden it/studied it with my high school physics class. So began my love affair with Rolling Thunder and Great Adventure! Those who truly know me realize that this is not an exaggeration! I have ridden Rolling Thunder in the morning, dark night, heat, windy cold, and even rode it backwards when it was Rednuht Gnillor! I have ridden it with my family and friends. I will never forget the sound of this wooden ride-the slow clicking of the chain on the way up that huge hill and then the haunting roar during the rest of the ride…the wind in my hair…I was flying and it was pure magic. I remember my first ride on Rolling Thunder-it was a huge rite of passage for me. I remember riding “Lil’ Thunder” in the Kiddie Kingdom, staring at Rolling Thunder looming next to it and counting the days until I would be tall enough to finally ride it like my parents. Over 30 years of pure fun and smiles! I even remember the days before I was tall enough for Rolling Thunder. Some of my fondest childhood memories were made at Great Adventure and now that I am grown some of my best times with my own family have been made there as well. It's frantic and chaotic but super fun.I have a long history with Six Flags Great Adventure and Rolling Thunder in particular. You'll be throwing your buddy, pushing and pulling objects in harmony, and juggling a ton of different things all on-screen at the same time. Normally solo levels get modified once you add in more players so that some of the puzzles require multiple Sackboys (Sackpeople?) to solve and then the fully dedicated co-op mandatory levels take everything and crank it up to 11. Each of these are sprinkled in to mix things up and do an incredible job of injecting nuance into what could otherwise be a relatively by-the-numbers platformer.Ĭo-op is especially fantastic for this reason. The most impressive pieces of Sackboy were also the most limited - timed speed run levels, mandatory co-op levels, and music-themed levels. Given how hidden and tucked away many of the collectibles and costume pieces are here, this is a very good thing.Ĭo-op is especially fantastic in Sackboy. Rather than spinning the camera to always see what's in front of me, it encourages me to explore off the beaten path behind, above, or even below where I was standing. The lack of camera control forced me to adapt to the level itself. At first, I was put off by the lack of camera control, but it started to grow on me. The presentation is similar to Super Mario 3D Land or 3D World than it is Super Mario Odyssey or other 3D platformers. The big difference here though, unlike Astro, is that you can't control the camera with the right stick in Sackboy. It keeps you on your toes to have a steady stream of simple puzzles you can get through quickly rather than getting hung up on large, complex challenges. I liked how much the environment reacts to your different moves though, once you figure them out, like having to grab onto spinning wheels to launch yourself or spin against bolts to raise up platforms.
